Pizza frenzy!

It's pizza night at our apartment tonight as we are trying out a new pizza stone.

I've just been looking at the Project Food Blog entries this week and the Pizzas here are just so creative!  Well done bloggers.

  1. What kind of stone are you using? I picked up a cheap stone set from an outlet shop for $10 and I've been using it for a number of years now -- loving it!

I have heard really good mentions on Mario's though: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/kitchen-and-food/pizza-pans/mario-batali-red-pizza-pan/s554456

I might pick that up next just because I'm getting tired of the leftover grease on the stone causing a smoke build-up when I heat it up

  2. We are using a great stone from Williams-Sonoma. We aren't putting a lot of oil into our dough. We are pre-baking on a cookie sheet and then transferring to the stone will a pizza peel after adding sauce, cheese and toppings. I understand some people are fond of pans, but drawing out the moisture and getting a crispy crust on the ceramic stone is great.
